A Halloween trick-or-treat "warning" from Goblins of Globalized "Warming." ..  ·
Though
this is the day, Halloween,
by science the Goblins were seen

in yesterday's session

of Senate confections

of tricks, but no treats were received.

They wisely chose
not to enact
for "Climate" a "Stewardship Act"--

A bill
1 with McCain's
and Lieberman's names

for theories ignoring the
facts.

Their faces exclaimed, "Trick or Treat"
as Goblins of Warming Deceit
2
denying we're hot

from cycles of spots

on Sol
3 'stead of carbon we've freed.

Since data on "warming" contrast
4
with theories their bill would enact,

political hacks

instead should enact

for
Science a "Stewardship Act."

The facts
5 Warming Goblins ignored
by
more6 facts are now reinforced--
that spots on the sun,

not engines we run,

cause "warming" the Goblins abhor.
 .
··
·
Inspired by yesterday's defeat of the McCain-Lieberman "Climate Stewardship Act," which would enshrine into law the Global Warming Theory masquerading as science to claim carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels is "warming" the planet.  The good news is that the Senate rejected the bill; the bad news is that the margin was so narrow.

1.See the proposed Climate Stewardship Act of 2003 introduced in the Senate by McCain & Lieberman.

2.Go here for links to articles/commentaries on "Greenhouse" topics for more information on the Goblins of Global Warming aka the Priests of the Greenhouse Beliefs aka the Priests of Dismay, etc.

3.See the October 21, 2003, news bulletin from the American Institute of Physics.

4.See the October 8, 2003, article by S. Fred Singer, professor emeritus of environmental sciences at the University of Virginia and president of the Science & Environmental Policy Project.

5.See my June 19, 2001, article, "Global Warming or Scientific Flatulence?" the conclusions of which are demonstrably reinforced again in 2003 by continuing accumulation of scientific data (see, e.g., footnotes 3 & 4, supra) refuting the theory that burning fossil fuels "warms" the planet rather than merely feeding oxygen-producing plants, trees and organisms.

6.See footnotes 3 & 4, supra; See also the October 28, 2003, on-line issue of USA Today for additional analyses regarding new data further invalidating the man-is-warming-the-Earth theory.

"Assertion of Privilege implies," says Hill'ry, "there's 'something to hide.'" ..
·
I'm Hill'ry, I'm here to decry
the privilege invoked to deny
requests to reveal
the top-secret spiels
to Bush before One-One of Nine.

A privilege invoked to deny
disclosures of briefings from spies
before Nine-One-One,
as Dubya has done,
implies he has "something to hide."

My claims he has "something to hide"
are charges I make because
I
assume other people
are just as deceitful
as William J. Clinton and I.
··
·
Inspired by an October 30, 2003, news report of an assertion by Hillary Clinton that Bush's invocation of privilege to refuse to furnish to the 9-11 Commission the briefings given directly to him during the months before 9-11 implies that he has "something to hide."  In my experiences of life, I find honest people to be least distrustful of others and deceitful people to be most distrustful of others.   --Jim Wrenn, Editor@PoliSat.Com.

The Stop-Terror Shield that Rumsfeld should wield. .
(A proposal to Donald Rumsfeld in response to his "slog" memo.).
·
Dear Rummy, Your memo I've read
describing conditions you dread
like terrorist murders
of NGO workers,
police, and new-government heads.

You need, says your memo, a lot
of thinking outside of the box,
so I, an outsider,
a clever devisor,
submit this suggestion for pax.

Remember before we commenced
the war to make Baathists past-tense
those noble dissenters
to Baghdad who ventured
to offer a moral defense?

To them make an urgent appeal
invoking their noble ideals
to venture with verve
to Baghdad to serve
in squads to comprise human shields.

The current intensification of rocket and bomb conflagrations. ..
·
Though yesterday's bombs in Iraq
showed tactics designing attacks
by Baathists and/or
a terrorist horde,
they're tactics of desperate claques.

Their motives are surely no myst'ry
like motives of others in hist'ry
attacking the forces
that freedom endorses
'til ending as footnotes in hist'ry.

Remember, the Bulge from attacks
by Nazis attempting to crack
our lines and corral
our men and morale
arose from their desperate acts.

As Allies in Belgium were threats
the Nazis had need to eject,
a civil Iraq
to terrorist claques
comprises a similar threat.

But Allies in Belgium withstood
attacks by the Reich through the woods
with courage displayed
inspired by their Faith
in ultimate triumphs of Good.

And likewise intensification
or rocket and bomb conflagrations
as terrorist tactics
won't frighten Iraqis
infected with freedom's contagion.

The swells in the wake of the Donkey Debate . ..
·
Reactions abound in the wake
of yesterday's Donkey Debate
on who first attacked
the plans in Iraq
and who became critics "too late."

Both Kerry and Edwards were preening
for roles for which both have been screening
as Alternate Deans
with statements that mean
their prior words were lacking in meaning.

Kucinich and Sharpton and Braun,
insisting on
still hanging on
though doomed to defeat
give comic relief,
while Dean sounds the cry of Move On.

However, both Richard and Joe,
though trashing how Bush has proposed
to manage Iraq,
refused to retract
support for the war they had shown.

Said Clark, Dubya baited and switched
in war against terror and ditched
a promise for stopping
Usama bin Laden
and then in Iraq struck a ditch.

He's right in his bait-and-switch dictum
but wrong about who is the victim--
The bait is Iraq
designed to attract
the goons of bin Laden as victims.

The National Security Hope Scope. ..
·
Political junkies await
tonight's Democratic debate
to learn whether Joe
and Richard will show
some fudge on decisions they made.

Both Kerry and Edwards will preen
themselves as an alternate Dean,
and ex-Gen'ral Clark
will count on his stars
to show he'd be tougher than Dean.

Will Gephardt and Lieberman show
they still have the savvy to know
the end to be used
when seeking to view
a threat through the NST Scope.

Used rightly, the NST Scope
shows danger while still we can cope,
but those who prefer
its use in reverse
develop a false sense of hope.

The Streisands-- There they go again. ..
·
Though art's in the eye of beholders,
CBS in its Eye has a boulder
named Brolin that skews
historical news
with fiction for hist'ry's beholders. .
··
·
Inspired by the raging controversy (see Drudge for details) over the forthcoming CBS "biopic" movie purporting to present a historical view of Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan.  James Brolin-Streisand plays Ronal Reagan and Judy Davis plays Nancy Reagan.  The factual inaccuracies (conceded by critics on the Left as well as the Right) comprise mean-spirited distortions of history, which made me recall the
"wisdom" of Barbara Streisand deploring the descent of political discussion from being "eloquent" into being "mean-spirited":

“[Republican control of the House has resulted in] poison in the water, salmonella in the food, carbon dioxide in the air and toxic waste in the ground.”-- October, 2002 [source]

"It used to be in politics that there was a certain amount of class and eloquence. The debate was civilized even though there were strong disagreements over deeply important questions. But, as usual, the Republicans have resorted to name-calling and mean-spiritedness." -- February, 2003 [source]

To those who berate expressions of faith with zeal that exemplifies hate: ..
·
Before I proceed I concede
in God I am lacking belief,
but yet I concede
religious beliefs
help many be better than me.

The Secular Fundies
* are baying
at Boykin for truthfully saying
our state as nation
of Christian creation
**
is why we are targets for slaying.

The Secular Fundies ignore
a co-equal goal for the war
by Muslim Fanatics
with terrorist tactics:
That secular rule be destroyed.

Instead of attempting to smear
the faith that the Gen'ral holds dear,
they ought to confess
the Faith he professed
created the freedom we cheer.

And thus they could help us to show
American Christians oppose
religious oppression
and favor protection
of Islam's religious tableau.

The Secular Fundies' profession
of fear that the Gen'ral's expressions
make Muslims distrust us
are hollow and pompous
in light of their cronies' expressions.

When one of their idols named Ted
***
with arrogant pompousness read
his claims we proceeded
to war 'cause we're greedy,
their silence spoke "dittos" with Ted.

They're blind to the self-contradiction
of what they profess as their mission
in claiming the gen'ral
by statements had kindled
distrust of our stated intentions.

Their argument speciously claims
by Faith can our motives be stained
but not by contentions
that greed is our mission
and not freedom's goal we proclaimed.

Should Boykin have better expressed
the Faith he so proudly professed?
Of course, just as Ted
should shut-up his head
and stop claiming greed is our quest.
··
·
Despite being a non-believer, I found the most recent example of Ted Kennedy's typically recklessly and morally irresponsible claims (i.e., his recent speech on the Senate Floor claiming that Bush and his cronies plotted the war in Iraq for their own greedy interests and falsely claiming Bush described the danger posed by Hussein as an "imminent threat" rather than "gathering danger") to pose a far greater danger of instilling distrust of our motives among Moslems than statements by Lt. General William G. Boykin focusing not on Muslims generally but on fanatical Muslims he likened to the "hooded" people who defiled Christianity as much as the terrorists are defiling Islam.  Furthermore, I construe Secular Fundamentalists' silence about Kennedy's highly inflammatory demagogic rhetoric as evidence that they share the irresponsible, reckless and hateful beliefs his speech exemplified.
·
*·I use the term "Secular Fundies" to describe the anti-religious non-believers whose thinking is too shallow to comprehend that they've made their "non-belief" into their own fundamentalist creed with a zealotry that even the Iranian Mullahs could admire.
·
**·In all of human history, what is the one religion that played the most pivotal role in the creation and nurturing of the first system of laws based on freedom of religion, free speech, liberty, due process, human rights, etc.?  Can you say "Christian" or "Judeo-Christian"?  So what if Dark Ages Christians and Muslims treated each other with barbarism.  It's Muslim fanatics, not Christian generals, who are trying to resurrect the barbarism of the Dark Ages.  If that's not "evil," what is?
·
***·See my comments about Kennedy in the text preceding the single-asterisk footnote."

"Strategery" Chess or Tic-Tac-Toe Mess (Tick Tock Terra or Tic Tac Terror). ..
Before the attacks on our towers
we limited use of our powers
for terrorist stasis
to case-by-case basis
responses to terrorist horrors.

Before Nine-Eleven we bargained
with powers applied at the margins
of terrorist pools
with lawyerly tools
to prosecute criminal charges.

But after that terrorist mission
"strategery" thinking envisioned
the scope of the war
that terrorists swore
and widened the scope of our mission.

Before, tic-tac-toe was professed
as being the way to contest
the terrorists' tactics,
but Dubya retracted
such tactics in favor of chess.

The critics appear not to know
the limits of tic, tac and toe
were linear tactics
that focused our tactics
in places the terrorists' chose.

In contrast, when terror is viewed
as war asymmetric'ly skewed,
it ain't tic-tac-toe
but chess that can go
where we, not the terrorists, choose.·

I'm handsome, I'm Lib'ral, I'm Clooney

were issues, not whether he groped.

··
··
Inspired by an October 21, 2003 news report (already dated Oct. 22 by the Australian news service publishing it) of more of Clooney's Loonies (aka statements by George Clooney) in Europe about the American political system.  Apparently without being cognizant of the inherent contradiction of his statements, Clooney "told Woman magazine [in Germany] that Schwarzenegger's win this month in the California governorship race showed that candidates could only be successful in American politics if they denied things they did in earlier life [such as smoking pot and having sex with more than one woman]."  (Emphasis added).  Clooney attributed such problems to "American society being too prudish," which observation he certainly expected to be construed by his European audience as being directed at the "conservative" part of the political spectrum and certainly not the Hollywood Liberal part of the spectrum.  Ostensibly, Clooney believed his audience would be too uninformed to know:  (A) that the issue was not whether Schwarzenegger "smoked pot" (which he admitted) or "had sex with more than one person ... earlier in life" (which he admitted) but rather whether he had sexually assaulted women via uninvited groping (some of which he admitted and some of which he denied), and (B),
that the most virulent attacks on Schwarzenegger for his alleged sexual indiscretions came not from "the right," but from Clooney's liberal cronies.   --Jim Wrenn, Editor@PoliSat.Com.·

GenderBlanca-- The Movie-- A scientific thriller. ..

Says science, perceptions of genus

How "shocking" that human reproduction yields a norm and deviations from the norm.  Should this discovery be any more "shocking" than
Captain Louie Renault's "shocking" discovery that gambling was occurring? --Jim Wrenn, Editor@PoliSat.Com.·

An "Armey" of answers to riddles in theories of Left, Right and Middle...

Says Armey, those left and right beings
diverge on believing and seeing:
The right has to see
before it believes;
The left thinks believing is seeing.

Yet minds that perceive without blinking
perceive paradoxical thinking:
The rightists show faith
that leftists disdain
confusing their left and right thinking.

So what does that mean for the middle?
The answer is clear, not a riddle:
Believers can see;
and seers believe;
but middlers conceive very little.
··
··
Inspired by a chapter in Dick Armey's new book,
Armey's Axioms.  One chapter characterizes the polarity of left/right (liberal/conservative) thinking:   "Armey's Axiom Number 23"  says "Conservatives believe it when they see it, liberals see it when they believe it."  Yogi Berra with a degree in Economics.  --Jim Wrenn, Editor@PoliSat.Com.·

An Arkansas honkey as "Ike" on a donkey?..

My name is the ex-Gen'ral Clark.
My contrast with Dubya is stark--
At least that's the way
I'm feeling today
for journeys on which I've embarked.

In 2001 I debuted
my speech giving raving reviews
to Bush and his team,
and now you can see
my dittos in 2002.

You ask why I'm changing to be
a critic in 2003.
Opponents maintain
the reason I changed
was Rove not responding to offers from me.

Of course my opponents are wrong
in claiming the change of my song
is just a reflection
of feeling rejection
by those whom I'd praised all along.

Instead, twas my feeling I might
be viewed by the donkeys like Ike--
A gen'ral to save
political knaves
from fatal political blight.

So therefore, my moves to the left
are proof I'm politic'ly deft
by changing my spots
so donkeys will not
stampede off the cliff on the left.

With aides from the Clintons in place,
I'll drive Howard Dean from the race
and therefore like Ike,
my timing is right
for saving a party's best face.

··
··
Inspired by today's report of the surfacing of yet another video-tape (this one in 2002) of Wesley Clark lavishly praising Dubya's presidential leadership qualities.  Being unable to believe the former Clinton aides "helping" Wesley Clark's campaign were unaware of the praise-for-Bush "skeletons" in Clark's "Democratic" closet, I can't help suspecting the Clintons' behind-the-scenes strategy is to use Clark to maintain a potentially viable opening for Hillary to be able to decide at the last possible moment whether Bush will be vulnerable enough to justify her entering the race in 2004 or strong enough for her to want someone else to do down in flames in 2004 to pave the way for her in 2008.  See my September 19, 2003, "Clark Dark Stalk Horse" satire/commentary and my September 25, 2003 "Deuced Machiavellian" satire/commentary.

The statements by Bill on bin Laden show parsing's a skill not forgotten...

Says Bubba, the Dubya's forgotten
I told him to capture bin Laden
but Dubya, alas,
left open the path
for terror by goons of bin Laden.

Some "tips" on Usama I'd gotten,
but
I in regards to bin Laden
did not have relations
with African nations
for seizing Usama bin Laden.

My "Library" soon will belie
my haters' contentions I "lie"
by parsing my speech
on Monica's feats
to show twas the truth, not a lie.

My speech critics found unconvincing
was true as
addressed to Lewinsky--
To counter their plot
I said,
"I did not
have sex with
'that woman,' Lewinsky."

And those words, like words on bin Laden,
show skills I had long ago gotten
like parsing convincing
the intern Lewinsky
'that woman' meant former Ms. Rodham.

Will Taikonauts Episode I inspire Astronauts Episode XVIII?...

For Russia, the spacemen are cosmonauts;
America's spacemen are astronauts,
and hist'ry is made
by China today
by orbiting Yang as a taikonaut.

When Russia was first into space
America's rockets lost face,
so reaching the moon
became our High Noon
when astronauts landed with grace.

As Yang rode to space on a plume
reports are that China will soon
with zeal be consumed
for China's High Noon
when taikonauts land on the moon.

Since cosmonaut triumphs inspired
the Kennedy lighting of fire
for reaching the moon,
the China High Noon
should surely rekindle our fire.

··
According to today's news, a Long March 2F rocket called the Shenzhou V -- "divine ship" in Chinese -- carried a single "taikonaut" named Yang Liwei, 38, into Earth-orbit today.  --Jim Wrenn, Editor@PoliSat.Com.

If Rush had used all of his brain, a cure he'd have found for his pain...

When Limbaugh announced his admission
proclaiming he suffers addiction
to painkilling pills,
excuses were nil--
Instead, he expressed his contrition.

Since Rush used Satirical Dopplers
for mocking the folly of others,
he will, I expect,
contritely accept
the humor in PoliSat's Dopplers.

He should've known how to refrain
from drugs as a cure to his pain
Instead of a pill,
he should've let Bill
be surrogate feeling his pain.

Having experienced unrelenting spinal-nerve pain more severe than that of a dentist drilling on a raw nerve (which I have also experienced) until back surgery, which, fortunately for me, successfully ended the pain, I can readily sympathize with one who succumbed illegal means to obtain pain relief not otherwise available.  --Jim Wrenn, Editor@PoliSat.Com.

Wesley Clark's speech fees-- Have Speech, Will Travel
--But fees may exceed Campaign "Reform" limits.
..

Though Clark may be wrong on a lot,
on fees for his speeches he's not
'cause limiting fees
for giving a speech
is limiting freedom a lot.

The law gives Orwellian reach
to Priests of Political Speech
to treat as a crime
and punish with fines
accepting too much for a speech.

It stems from Orwellian norms
defined as campaigning "reforms"
to mask their intent
for money that's spent
for speech meet the government's norms.
··
··
Inspired by news reports that Clark's Democratic opponents claim his having received $30,000 as a lecture fee for each of several speeches scheduled before, but given after, he formally began his quest to become the Democratic nominee for President in 2004. Clark spokesmen appear to be defending the fees as not being violative of Campaign "Reform" limits because the time when he contracted to give the speeches was before he began his campaign. However, despite my not being a supporter or promoter of Clark, I would defend his fees on the ground that such Campaign Finance "Reform" limitations are unconstitutional infringements on free speech in the form of government rationing of expenditures for political speech. For more information, see Campaign Finance "Reform" at

The Terminator of Separators and Hyphenators...

It's clear the Los Angeles Terminator
defeated the Gov'nor Di
visinator;
moreover, it's clearer
he vanquished the smearer
of news, the Los Angeles Timesinator.

But
more, the Los Angeles Terminator
defeated EnGendering Separators
and laid the foundation
for unification
by trouncing the Cultural Hyphenators.

And since the Los Angeles Terminator
dethroned the Los Angeles Timesinator,
which voters reproved
for bending the news,
there's angst at the gray New York Timesinator

Perhaps the election of Schwarzenegger marks the beginning of the end of ethic block voting and will curtail the past successes of class-warfare politics.  Despite his past as a groper, I'm sure he won't emulate Clinton's disgraceful conduct as in-the-workplace sexual predator.  Also, it's refreshing to see the Maria Shriver wing of the Kennedy family triumph over the Ted Kennedy wing.    --Jim Wrenn, Editor@PoliSat.Com.

Preemption preeminence beats last-resort immanence...

To those with delusions of prescience,
the danger to peace wasn't imminent
from
Saddam's Iraq,
so Bush they attack
for making preemption preeminent.

To think we're sufficiently prescient
to wait until danger is imminent
before launching Rangers
at gathering dangers,
our only defense would be imm
anent.

The critics say: "Threats must be imminent
before plans for war we should implement,"
but seeking perfection
in timing protection
leads not to success but impediments.

Though critics in Nine-One-One's wake
said "Dots were connected too late,"
they're quick to forget
in countering threats,
it's better too soon than too late.
··
··

The "there-was-no-imminent-danger" critics of Operation Iraqi Freedom as an imperialistic "preemptive war" base their argument upon the specious contention that our intelligence services can be prescient enough to allow us the luxury of waiting for a danger to become "imminent" before taking action against it, yet those same critics are the ones who most loudly proclaim the ineffectiveness of our intelligence services.  Bush never claimed an attack directly against us by Iraq was "imminent."  Instead, he correctly described the circumstances as a "gathering danger" that would continue to grow absent removal of Saddam Hussein.  David Kay today publicly described his team's still-classified mission as not yet having found operational weapons of mass destruction.
However, the media (and the critics) have ignored his statements that his team has found massive evidence of capabilities and plans for such weapons and evidence of extensive violations other serious weapons limitations (such work in progress on missiles with a range of 1,000 kilometers) not detected by the vaunted Inspector Blixeau.  (By the way, the last two stanzas are from my January 29, 2003, Daily Update.) --Jim Wrenn, Editor@PoliSat.Com.·

The roaring of Rush at the rushing of roars...
(For the animated version, click image below; for the text version, scroll down)

Dear Rush, though I'm certain you're not
a bigot, it seems you forgot
in sports many fans
take pride in a man
succeeding at what they cannot.

So what if a fan or observer
exhibits unusual fervor
to favor a player
as prejudice slayer
succeeding as bigotry curber?

Though bigots of patronization
deserve, I agree, condemnation,
your words ran afoul
of "harmless-- no foul"
and spoke undeserved condemnation.

Instead of contending the roar
shows not that your judgment was poor
but proves you were right,
you should be contrite
for judgment exceedingly poor.
··
··

Inspired by the understandable uproar in response to Rush Limbaugh's comments impugning the motives of commentators in lauding McNabb by characterizing them as manifestations of the bigotry of patronization.  Purporting to find bigotry in the harmless favoritism exhibited by sports fans and commentators trivializes one's credibility in exposing instances of real bigotry in the form of patronization or in its many other forms.  --Jim Wrenn, Editor@PoliSat.Com.

Coming soon from Gore:  the Bore Casting Network...

Believing the news is bereft
of views of the news from the left,
Al Gore is acquiring
a network aspiring
to broadcast with views from the left.

Fatigued from attempting to gild
the ring in the tub left by Bill,
at least he's moved up
'cause now he can scrub
the ring in the tub left by Phil.
··
··

Inspired by news reports that Al Gore and other investors are planning to buy News International from Vivendi (before completion of GE/NBC's acquisition of Vivendi) in order to run it as a "liberal" news network to counterbalance what Gore perceives as the right-wing views of other news media.  He seems not to understand that with the sole exception of Fox, the existing news networks are liberal.  However, given the intensifying activism of ideological groups such as MoveOn.Org, a leftist news network could be supported by zealots of the left.  --Jim Wrenn, Editor@PoliSat.Com.
