Critics condemn citizen "militias" monitoring illegal immigration in Arizona as "vigilantes" but laud comparable anti-crime activism in urban or suburban settings as "Neighborhood Watch."
Many critics of the citizen "militias" monitoring illegal immigration in Arizona label them as "vigilantes," yet when citizens in crime-ridden urban or suburban settings band together to monitor their neighborhood to deter (and report) crime, the same critics laud civic activism as a "Neighborhood Watch." What's the difference? In both situations, civic activism by law-abiding citizens fills the gap law-enforcement authorities can't (or haven't) filled. Have there been (and will there be) occasions when overzealous participants in a Neighborhood Watch break the law? Of course. Does that lead us to condemn Neighborhood Watch activities as "vigilantism"? Of course not.
Most critics residing in areas far from the U.S.-Mexican border would quickly demand, or even join, Neighborhood Watches, if they were to find their neighborhoods being constantly invaded by criminal trespassers. What neighborhood would passively tolerate such risks to the safety, well-being and property-rights of residents? Why should the case for such activism by law-abiding citizens be deemed less compelling when the criminal activity is greater -- i.e., criminal trespass coupled with criminal violation of an international border-- as well as the dangers posed to a passive citizenry being greater by virtue of the fact that a significant percentage of those crossing the U.S.-Mexican border do so for additional criminal purposes such as illegal-drug activities and/or terrorist activities?

NightLine may become NightClub.
A recent report indicates ABC is considering replacing "NightLine" with "NightClub" in an effort to jazz-up the time-slot. PoliSat.Com's highly unreliable sources indicate, however, that Ted Koppel's recent announcement of his "retirement" is really a ruse while he's in training to host the new "NightClub" version of the show. Indeed, PoliSat.Com foresaw this tactic way back when Koppel was being confronted with "reports" that ABC was considering replacing him with David Letterman.

Google Gorgle or Gargoyle-- Commentary about Google's decision to "partner" with Al Gore's "news" network to reach the 18-34-year-old audience with "Google Current."
Recent news reports indicate Google has agreed to "partner" with Al Gore's "news" network with a "Google Current" feature targeted at an 18-to-34-year-old audience. Given Google's decision to identify itself so closely with Gore, perhaps the logo for "Google Current" take into account the following observations:
For millions of users of Google
the term that they use is "to Google"
a phrase or a term
in order to learn
the facts through the search-engine Google.
However a recent report
that Google will "partner" with Gore
means those seeking truth
thereafter will choose
to "Google" much less than before.
Though Leftists with pleasure may chortle
when Google puts Gore in its portal,
the Center and Right
will likely take flight
when "Google" has morphed into "Gorgle."
Inclusion of Gore as the flavor
of Google means many who savored
its logo and name
will view it as stained
by Gorgle with sounds of "Betrayer."
For hearing the sound of this slogan
by video-audio program,
at PoliSat.Com
a sound-version's on
the index of video programs.
Perhaps Google should use the final segments of the video-with-sound version (above) for "station breaks." Google has pioneered many innovative ideas and techniques. I quickly became an ardent admirer of Google, but I'm disappointed at this proposal, which appears to constitute yet another vehicle (like MTV) to market Left Coast political ideas in the guise of entertainment and news. Will Google exclude this April 12, 2005, installment of PoliSat.Com's commentary from its 30-days news database? Go here (or enter "Google Gorgle or Gargoyle" in the exact-phrase box of the advance search for Google News) between April 12 and May 12, 2005, to find out.
