proclaims Halliburton "the Grinch."
To help Halliburton, "the Grinch"
escape such perception of stench
in nostrils of critics
it's easy to fix it:
Assign all its stock to the French.
The current political firestorm now dominating news reports about Halliburton's subsidiary, Kellogg, Brown & Root, having passed on to the Army what are alleged to have been excessive prices for gasoline to be transported to Iraq from Kuwait is fed more by political motivation than mere disgruntlement over the alleged wasting of taxpayer funds. How cost-efficient were companies performing "Marshall Plan" contracts immediately after World War II? To what extent is it reasonable to ignore the reality that needs to accord priority to reliability, efficiency, security, availability, expertise and similar factors diminish the likelihood that any company performing contracts under such circumstances can avoid occasionally being "taken." The politically motivated nature of the vitriol of Halliburton's most vociferous critics makes Halliburton's solution to the problem self-evident-- transfer it's stock to the French and then enjoy their deafening silence.
