Did Bush "wag the turkey" on Thanksgiving Thursday?
Confessions to expurgate what Newsweek calls "TurkeyGate."·
In Newsweek, an "article"¹ states
since turkey I briefly displayed
while visiting troops
could not be consumed,
my trip "wagged the turkey" that day.
Contending I should've revealed
the turkey I knew to be real,
the "article" gripes
twas "stage-managed" hype
to not show the turkey for real.
Inspired by such "gripes" to come clean,
I ordered all soldiers to glean
their Thanksgiving pictures
to show without strictures
the turkey that should've been seen.
I promised the troops to not stop 'em
from voting from top to the bottom.
The "pic" of the turkey
they voted "least murky"

Inspired by a Dec. 5, 2003 "article" (under the caption "National News") in Newsweek on-line by Brian Braiker as a "reporter" writing a "Newsweek Web Exclusive" titled "Wag the Turkey" consisting of propagandistic questions posed by Braiker to Presidential Historian Douglas Brinkley to depict as "Turkeygate" Bush's being photographed holding a turkey prepared for display in the chow line rather than for consumption during Bush's Thanksgiving visit with troops at Baghdad Airport.
¹·Newsweek's on-line format depicted this hit-piece as an "exclusive" article (i.e., not op/ed or commentary) on "National News."
